October 2026: Vape Tax

A new Vaping Products Duty of £2.20 per 10ml applies to all e-liquids from 1 October 2026. Hardware is not affected. There's a 6-month grace period from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 where shops can still sell existing unstamped stock. After 31 March 2027, selling e-liquid without a duty stamp becomes an offence. Ecigone is stocking up before the tax date to keep prices as low as possible through the grace period.

Frequently Asked Questions

TPD stands for Tobacco Products Directive. It's the set of product rules that came into force in May 2016 covering e-cigarettes and e-liquids. After Brexit, the UK kept them under the name TRPR (Tobacco and Related Products Regulations), but the rules themselves didn't change.

TRPR stands for Tobacco and Related Products Regulations. It's the UK's version of the EU's TPD that carried over after Brexit. The regulations are identical — they govern nicotine limits, bottle sizes, tank capacities, labelling, and MHRA registration.

TPD law limits nicotine-containing e-liquid to 10ml bottles maximum. This is a safety regulation to protect against accidental nicotine overdose. Shortfill e-liquids (50ml, 100ml) contain zero nicotine, so the 10ml limit doesn't apply to them.

The MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) requires all e-cigarettes and e-liquids to be registered before they can be legally sold in the UK. This includes emissions testing and full ingredient disclosure.

Yes. Every e-liquid, tank, and pod sold on the Ecigone website is fully TPD and TRPR compliant. All e-liquids have been submitted to and passed MHRA certification.

From 1 October 2026, a Vaping Products Duty of £2.20 per 10ml will apply to all e-liquids regardless of nicotine content. There's a 6-month grace period until 31 March 2027 where existing unstamped stock can still be sold. After that date, all e-liquid must carry a duty stamp. E-liquid prices will increase, but hardware (kits, coils, empty pods) is not affected by the tax.
