Refillable Pod Vape Kits
A refillable vape kit is hardware built around an open pod or tank: pop the fill port, pour in a bottle of e-liquid, snap it shut, and the same pod or tank serves you for weeks before the coil head is swapped out.
That's the split from prefilled formats, where the pod is sealed at the factory and binned once empty.
Most UK customers landed on refillable after the 1 June 2025 single-use ban took disposables off shelves overnight - the maths is simple, a 10ml bottle covers roughly the same nicotine as five old disposables at a small fraction of the per-ml cost.
Pair the kit with the right e-liquid for its coil and the running cost stays lower than any disposable ever was.
How Refillable Vape Kits Work
Three working parts, regardless of which format you buy:
-
The battery device - charges via USB-C in 30 to 90 minutes, then runs for half a day to a full day depending on capacity. Built-in for pod kits and small pod mods, external 18650 or 21700 for box mods.
-
The pod or tank - holds the e-liquid (up to 2ml under UK TPD rules), houses the coil, slots onto the device.
-
The coil - the wear part. Heats the e-liquid into vapour. Lasts one to two weeks of normal use before flavour fades, at which point you swap it.
Workflow once set up: refill the pod from a bottle every day or two, swap the coil every one to two weeks, charge the battery overnight. That is the entire routine. Compared to single-use disposables (banned in the UK since 1 June 2025) or prefilled pods, refillable kits run cheaper and last far longer.

Refillable Vape Kits vs Prefilled Pod Kits
The June 2025 disposable ban split the UK market in two. Refillable vape kits work with any 10ml bottle on the shelf - thousands of flavours, any nicotine strength from 0mg up to 20mg. Prefilled pod kits are simpler day to day but lock you into 20mg nicotine and maybe 30 to 40 flavours per brand.

Bottle nic salts at Ecigone average a small fraction of the per-ml cost of prefilled pods. Across a year of normal use that adds up to a meaningful saving with a refillable vape, which is why most ex-disposable users move to refillable within the first three months. Check current pricing on the nic salt collection.

Refillable Vapes: Favourite Disposable Flavours in a Bottle
Every major disposable brand now makes 10ml nic salt bottles with the same flavours their disposables had. ELFLIQ covers the Elf Bar flavours. Lost Mary MaryLiq covers Lost Mary.
Elux Legend Nic Salts covers Elux. SKE Crystal Bar Juice covers the Crystal flavours.
Same flavour profiles, same manufacturers, a 10ml bottle that fills any refillable pod kit. Going refillable does not mean losing your favourite flavours - you just buy them in a bottle and fill the pod yourself. Browse all bar salt e-liquids to find your old disposable flavour.
Nicotine Strength Control
This is the big one for anyone wanting to cut down. Prefilled pods come loaded at 20mg and that is the only option. Refillable vapes let you pick the strength every refill.
Start at 20mg, drop to 10mg when you are ready, then 5mg, 3mg, 0mg if that is where you are headed. Same kit the whole way through.
Bottle pricing at Ecigone is the same regardless of strength. Trying 10mg instead of 20mg does not cost you extra. Our nic salt strengths guide covers which strength suits which background (pack a day, half a pack, social vaper).
Budget Reusable Vape Kits
You do not need to spend a lot. Some of the best reusable vape kits we sell are at the budget end and will go well over a year with basic care.
If you are searching for a refillable disposable vape, this is what you are after - rechargeable vapes that work like a disposable but you refill yourself instead of binning them.
Go with brands that have coils you can actually get hold of long-term. OXVA, Vaporesso, Uwell and Voopoo all have coils in stock at Ecigone year round. A cheap rechargeable vape from a no-name brand might save you a fiver upfront, but if you cannot find coils in three months you are buying another kit.
Refillable Vape Pens vs Refillable Pod Kits
Two formats often confused. A refillable vape pen is the longer, cylindrical shape - bigger battery, sub-ohm or RDL coils, takes 70/30 shortfill e-liquid for more vapour. A refillable pod kit is the boxy compact shape - small battery, MTL coils, takes 50/50 or nic salt 10ml bottles for a tight pocket-sized draw.
Pod kits suit nic salts and a cigarette-style inhale. Refillable vape pens suit higher VG e-liquid and a chest-style inhale. If you want something pocket-sized, go for a pod kit.
If you want bigger clouds and longer battery life, a refillable vape pen or sub-ohm kit is the better pick.
How to Fill a Refillable Vape Kit
Thirty seconds once you have done it a couple of times:
- Pull the pod or tank off the device.
- Open the fill port (silicone plug, side door or screw-off top depending on the kit).
- Pour in your e-liquid - stop at the max fill line, not above.
- Close the port and slot the pod back into the device.
- New coil? Let it sit for five minutes so the cotton soaks through before the first puff.
The last step stops dry hits. Skip it and you will taste burnt cotton on the first few puffs - which means a wasted coil within the first hour.
50/50 nic salts and bar salt e-liquids work best in pod kits. Refillable vape pens with sub-ohm coils need higher VG shortfills at 0mg or 3mg. Match the liquid to the coil and you will not have any issues.
Refillable Vaping Glossary
-
Refillable - you add your own e-liquid from a bottle. Opposite of prefilled.
-
Rechargeable - the battery charges via USB-C. Almost all current kits are USB-C now.
-
Pod - the small plastic refill container that slots onto a pod kit. Holds e-liquid and the coil.
-
MTL (mouth to lung) - cigarette-style draw. Tight, into the mouth first.
-
DTL (direct to lung) - straight inhale into the lungs. Bigger clouds, more flavour.
-
Nic salt - smoother form of nicotine, sold in 10ml bottles at 10mg or 20mg, for pod kits.
-
Shortfill - 100ml bottle of high VG e-liquid for sub-ohm kits, 0mg or topped up with a nic shot.
-
TPD 2ml - UK legal maximum pod or tank capacity for any retail vape.
How to Pick the Right Refillable Vape Kit
Two questions answer most of it:
-
Draw style - tight mouth-to-lung like a cigarette, or open direct-to-lung for clouds. Pod kits cover MTL. Pod mods cover MTL to RDL. Sub-ohm kits cover DTL.
-
E-liquid - 10ml nic salt bottles for MTL pod kits, 100ml high VG shortfill for sub-ohm kits.
Once those are sorted, the brand, colour and battery format become the easy decisions. Every kit is refillable and comes with the right coil pre-installed - fill, prime, charge and start vaping.
Coil Life and Replacement Costs
One coil head lasts most refillable kit users one to two weeks of normal use before flavour fades. Three signs the coil is on its way out: harsh burnt taste on the inhale, muted or muffled flavour even from a fresh fill, or gurgling and leaking around the pod. Once any of those appear, the coil head is done.
Coil packs typically come in 3-packs or 5-packs depending on the brand. OXVA, Vaporesso, Voopoo and Geekvape all sell coil packs through the coils and pods shelf and the matching collections are linked from every kit PDP for one-click reordering.
Refillable Sub-Ohm vs Refillable Pod
Within the refillable category, the format you pick changes the running cost and the experience.
